The confusion wrapped around these two is enormous. Kids’ growth is different, and at some point, they get to this level where they do not fit in either size 6 or size 7.

That is where the size 6x comes in. Before you embark on shopping, it is prudent to familiarize yourself with all the differences you need to know about these sizes.

Difference Between Size 6 and Size 6x

The main difference between size 6 and size 6X is that when it comes to length, waist, and height, size 6 is smaller. This makes size 6X a perfect fit for kids who can’t fit properly in size 6 or 7.

Size 6 comes after 5. US size guide stipulates that size 6 is mostly for kids between 48-49 inches tall and weigh 47-53 lbs. The chest measures about 25 inches and the waist are 22 inches. On the other hand, size 6x comes in between 6 and 7, which means it is only an inch bigger than 6.

Size 6x was introduced because of the growth patterns the girls’ experience; hence no company produces them for boys.

Size 6x features a height of about 50-51 inches and a weight of about 54-58 lbs. The chest region should measure approximately 26 inches while the waist comes in at 23 inches.

The sizing above is subject to change when you look at other regions, such as the UK and Asia. Factors that determine the sizes are age and growth patterns, such as the height and weight dimensions.

Measurement is standardized by manufacturing companies. The main difference between size 6 and 6x can be easily derived from the statements mentioned above.

Difference Based on Measurements

Based on the measurements, the difference is only an inch in terms of waist and chest size. The height range difference is a bit high, which is 5 inches difference.

With size 6, the weight difference is evident as it is meant for kids with 47-53 lbs and size 6x fits best kids with 54-58lbs.

Is Size 6x the Same as 7?

Some parents settle for size 6x, as it is almost the same as size 7. Most of the time, they are right. You may find that your kid has a longer lower torso than the upper one.

A combination of the two sizes may work. For example, trousers maybe size 7 while the size of the shirt is 6x.

Depending on your continent of residence, or where you are ordering from, the most important thing to factor in is knowing the right size. It might be risky to use other continents’ standardized measurements to fit your own, especially in the e-commerce space.

The product you purchased may not fit. It is due to this that some individuals have started a campaign of having one metric measuring system all over the world.

This would require a survey to be conducted on the 3D body scan samples in different countries to come up with the neutral sizing system.

Since every manufacturer has a different view on what sizes they produce, this move becomes undermined. Due to this, continents such as the UK especially Europe has a committee that is specializing in standardization.

So far they have come up with new coding systems they are yet to implement.

It is equally important to understand the sizing systems most manufacturers use. The sizing systems refer to a table of numbers that are critical representatives of body dimensions.

It also makes use of the division of the target population subgroups. Most of these systems have been around for the longest time now based on traditional confection strategy that mostly uses circumferences.

Another popular sizing system includes the NATO sizing system that uses both length and circumference.

Coming up with this sizing system involved a couple of regression analyses with samples taken from 561 individuals mapped on anthropometric data. The efficiency of this system is high, totaling to 82.4%.

Some of the benefits associated with standardization are; easy understanding of the labels and sizing across the board. Standardization also encourages trade all over the globe, thus improving the clothing market sector.

However, the challenges this movement faces include demographics that vary from country to country. Also, a similar sizing would mean a natural shift in the customer base.

Most retailers use sizing to distinguish themselves from others. Factors such as material shrinkage might force you to make informed decisions.

Cotton material, for example, is best known for this, which is sad since it is the most recommended fabric when it comes to kids’ clothing. It is affected by temperatures and washing habits. Low temperatures and high agitation washing cause it to shrink.

Global manufacturing companies have also been urged and even forced to remove the hazardous chemicals they use in producing clothes. In an ideal situation, the most they can do is maybe reduce the levels. The reason behind such restrictions is because the chemicals may be reactive when they come into contact with the child’s skin.

A wrong choice of outfit may fail to give the impression intended. For an exceptional look that you wish for when buying your kids’ clothes.

More Factors to Consider when Choosing Kids Garments

Size is the number one factor that is a tricky decision to make. Depending on how you wish it to fit, and when the child wears, the choice of size is crucial. As a parent, you will have to think ahead pick the right size.

Fitting clothes are better. Garments that have adjustable waistbands can serve your child for a more extended period. The fit should not be too long, otherwise, it might be uncomfortable for the child.

The choice of fabric is also crucial. Favorable material feels comfortable when resting on the skin. In this aspect, consider kids with allergies of certain fabrics like wool, silk, or any other.

Ensure what your child wears does not irritate them, and they can have it for a whole day comfortably. Fabrics with sturdy seams are the best bet. It is undoubtedly true that most kids outgrow their clothes even before they get worn out. But that should not hinder you from looking for a bit quality.

The clothes should be easy to clean. Kids tend to get themselves dirty, really quick. Having a fabric that you can wash and dry at home can save you a lot. You can quickly know this by checking the tag of the cloth. If it requires a lot of care, then you should move to the next.

Kids tend to develop attachment towards certain colors. Even though you may want them to have all the cloth colors they love, there is a limit to this. Other colors stain quicker than others.

Especially bright colors such as white. Dark-colored items may serve you better, especially when going to gatherings. These colors include navy blue, black-red, brown, and dark green.

The appeal the clothing brings is another factor. Let the kids wear what they love at all times. This affects their mood positively, and they become energetic. You can involve children in the choice of clothes and make the decision depending on your budget.
