Mamaroo vs Rockaroo: What’s the Difference?

Baby bouncers and swings are one of those items that new parents are adding to their bucket list. Innovative, comfy and useful, it’s easy to understand why a parent would want to add a bouncer/swing to their little one belongings.

When choosing for a good and recommended bouncer you’d probably come across the brand 4moms and their very popular products the MamaRoo and RockaRoo.

People love these products but often confuse the two of them due to certain similarities, but are they the same thing? No, and here we will show you how to tell both products apart and which one is the better option.

What is the Difference Between MamaRoo and RockaRoo? The MamaRoo moves 4 different ways while the RockaRoo only moves from front to back. While the two of them have a different amount of speeds the RockaRoo doesn’t feature the 5 motions: Car Ride, Kangaroo, Tree Swing, Rock-a-bye and Wave. The MamaRoo also includes the white noise and sounds while The RockaRoo only has the MP3 plugin.

MamaRoo Vs RockaRoo

Both the MamaRoo and the RockaRoo are some of the all-time favorite bouncers on the market. Infants’ seats such as bouncers and swings are perfect to help us entertain and soothe our babies although it’s a bit of an investment so before getting one it’s recommended that you search for your best option.

Through a quick search, you will soon come across the MamaRoo and the RockaRoo, they both look great and they’re both beloved and look similar, however, they are in fact different. Let’s get to know them.

MamaRoo

When you visit the 4moms website looking for information about the MamaRoo this is the first thing you will notice. The Mamaroo is designed to help soothe babies so it makes sense that one of its main proposes it’s to imitate parents’ movements.

Babies soon familiarize themselves and get used to the way they fell while being held so replicating these motions the MamaRoo helps babies feel safe. The MamaRoo also features different types of motions: Car Ride, Kangaroo, Tree Swing, Rock-a-bye and Wave.

These different features are not only calming but also fun and help entertain your little one. The MamaRoo also has different speeds to choose from depending on your baby’s interests or current mood.

The Mamaroo can also be reclined in different positions which is very helpful because then your little one doesn’t have to be stuck or forced into a position they don’t feel comfortable in. T

he MamaRoo has cool mesh fabric with breathable 3D air mesh to keep your baby as comfortable as possible and it is available in 5 different designs: Cool Mesh, Grey Classic, Black Classic, Multi Plush and Silver Plush.

The MamaRoo contains 4 built-in sounds from nature-like sounds to white noise settings to choose from and it also has an MP3 plug in for you to connect whatever sounds or music your baby likes.

This gadget contains a removable seat fabric that’s machine-washable which makes the cleaning process very practical.

It also has interactive and reversible toys, in this case, some color balls that contain a rattle, a mirror and a crinkle ball for your child to be entertained with.

You can also adjust your baby’s MamaRoo’s setting from an app which is a great bonus.

The RockaRoo

“Back and forth gliding motion babies love in a compact size.”

The RockaRoo moves from front to back and while its motion claims to be big its size it’s smaller which can be helpful if you’re looking for a more compact “easy to move,” baby bouncer that saves space.

The Rockaroo has 5 different speed settings to choose from and counts with an MP3 plugger for you to play your baby’s favorite music and sounds.

The RockaRoo main function is to replace the function of a classic baby swing, however, the advantages of a RockaRoo are that it is smaller than your average baby swing, in fact, it’s supposed to occupy 70% less space than your average swing and it has cool and innovative settings, The RockaRoo intensifies the rocking which babies seem to enjoy.

Just like The MamaRoo, The RockaRoo also has cool mesh fabric with breathable 3D air mesh to keep your baby cool, comfortable and safe.

The RockaRoo seat has a removable fabric for easy wash and it is available in two different designs: Cool Mesh and Grey Classic.

The RockaRoo has reversible toys to keep your little one entertained. The toys are colorful on one side while black and white on the other.

Which one is better Mamaroo or Rockaroo?

While the two machines look familiar at first and they share some similarities their functions are different so to say which one is better than the other wouldn’t be necessarily correct in all cases.

As we mentioned above the machines move differently, also, The MamaRoo has some particular features such as the 4 built-in sounds. Plus, there’s the advantage that the MamaRoo can be managed from the app.

Although, the fact that The MamaRoo does contain more things than The RockaRoo doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the better one. Some parents prefer RockaRoo because it’s a bit more affordable, smaller and lighter.

Both have positive feedback, for people whose babies have tried both machines, the opinions are diverse, some babies preferred one while some babies favor the other.

At the end of the day, babies are their own little person with their own interests and sometimes you just don’t know which one they will like better until you try, but one thing is for sure both machines are the perfect help to keep your baby safe and happy.

What age can you use Mamaroo?

According to 4moms, the MamaRoo can be used from birth until the infant reaches the maximum weight limit which is 25 pounds (11.3 kilos) or until the infant is capable of sitting up without any assistance or he/she is able to climb out of it.

Babies with average weight would reach the MamaRoo weight limit at approximately 10 months to 13 months. Although it is difficult to say for sure at what specific age they will reach the limit since their growth is always so different.

If you want to know for sure when your baby is going to exceed the limit you must keep track of your baby’s weight. Also if your little one hasn’t exceeded the weight limit but fiddles too much and tries to or is able to escape from the MamaRoo it might be time for them to stop using it.

What is the difference between Mamaroo 4moms Mamaroo Classic and Plush?

The MamaRoo Classic and the plush have the same functionalities and features, there are only a few noticeable differences.

If you’re going to buy the MamaRoo Plush you’re going to pay a bit extra but the difference is really not too much so ultimately, don’t choose one or the other because of the price.

The other difference between the MamaRoos is the cover; the Mamaroo Plush comes with a softer cover with a velvet-like texture but that’s about it when it comes to differences.

Related Questions

Are the MamaRoo and the Rockaroo useful?

They can be. Sometimes you need a break from carrying your child in your arms for one reason or another but you still want your baby to feel comfortable and safe.

The MamaRoo and the RockaRoo help with that because they try to replicate sensations that babies like. Sometimes babies feel so safe and content using these machines they even fall asleep, so while all babies are different and maybe not all babies will like it lots of them do enjoy these types of machines particularly during the first months of life.

You also have more chances of your baby liking these machines if you try to introduce it to them during the first months of life.

Is white noise helpful for my child to fall asleep?

Babies tend to like white noise because it reminds them of the type of sounds they heard while in the womb. Certain white noise machines and videos can create a comfortable womb-like environment for your baby.

Some people claim that white noise machines even help their baby sleep for longer so if your little one is having trouble going to sleep you could give white noise a try.
